But Come Ye Back When Summer's In the Meadow
Thoughts on reopening, travel, and a new Haiku for You promotion

SPECIAL OFFER TO SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS:
Now through April, I’m offering all new subscribers to this newsletter a haiku poem I’ll write especially for them. A lot of you got one when you signed up last year, but if any current subscribers missed that offer, let me know and I’ll write a Haiku for You, too! This is a limited-time offer, so don’t delay. Share this post or the link at the end of this paragraph with them so they can sign up and get their own personal haiku! Sign up for What’s Denise Shelton Writing Now. Thanks!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Spring is coming, daylight saving time has begun, and I’m breathing a sigh of relief. I hope you are too or will be soon. As of yesterday, I am fully vaccinated including passing the two-week mark after the second shot.
I celebrated by going to Walmart. That was a mistake. It’s an unholy mess in that place. I usually never shop there but I needed to drop something off at FedEx and they have one inside the building. I could rant but I promised no rants when I started this newsletter and I aim to keep that promise (difficult as that may be).
My son is coming to visit in less than two weeks (also vaccinated) and I’m so excited to see him. It’s been over a year. My husband and I have booked a trip to Ireland for the second half of September. Hopefully, things will have calmed down there by then.
We were supposed to go last year but COVID canceled that. I’m going to be visiting the house where my grandmother was born in Ballaghaderreen and the cathedral my great-great-grandfather helped build in Navan (he was a stonemason who also worked on the Brooklyn Bridge). Needless to say, I’m very excited! I expect to be chockful of inspiration when I get home.
Here are links to some of my latest stories, a poem I did for International Women’s Day, and a haiku for March. Enjoy! And please remember to click the heart at the bottom of the page if you like this. Thanks for reading.

This exquisite rendition of “Danny Boy” by Irish tenor Cahill will break your heart.
That is my all-time favorite song, and this rendering brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing. Shalom.
