This is the week we get our unlimited yard waste pickup. My husband and I trimmed two enormous burning bush shrubs (invasive but they were there way before we bought the place, not a word, okay?) and chopped down a squirrel-planted silver maple sapling that I'd relocated too close to my neighbors’ hedge. Today we chopped up all the brush, tied up bundles (no larger than 3×3×3 feet) and filled these enormous paper bags from Home Depot (they really are big.) We dragged it all out to the front. I took Ibuprofen, had a long nap, then got up and smoked part of a mail-order spliff. I feel much better.
I check the headlines every so often but nothing of substance is happening this afternoon. The polls are still open.
We voted by mail. I won't leave my swing state house today if I can help it. (If it catches fire, obviously). It's a little scary outside today.
Here in Pennsylvania, I’m told my vote is critical. Don't worry. I chose wisely.
Much later, there will be wine, possibly even some bubbly. No point in waiting for a big announcement. It won't come for some time yet. Just live your best life while you're waiting and stay golden, Pony Boy.
Right on, sister. Hunkering down here in IL, herb at the ready and additional reality alterers, like edibles, if needed. Hang tight.
