The holiday season is in full swing, and although it seems a lot of folks want to leap from the skeleton arms of Halloween straight into those of Jolly Old St. Nick, I, for one, enjoy the calm embrace of Thanksgiving.
The alliance between the Wampanoag people and the English settlers at Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1621 began with a harvest celebration where kindness, gratitude, and good fellowship prevailed. This relationship lasted over 50 years.
Regrettably, it is one of the only examples of harmony among European colonists and Native Americans, which is why it is worth celebrating, and more importantly, worth emulating.

Gratefully yours,
Denise
