Happy August! I just got back from a few days vacation at beautiful Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondacks. It was quiet, relaxing, and peaceful. Now it’s back to work with a vengeance!
As I reported last month, three of my haiku poems are going to be published in the Better Than Starbucks literary magazine’s May 2021 issue. I just found out that another poem of mine “Can You See the Light?” will appear in both the e-book and print versions of the premiere edition of Written Tales’ anthology. I will let you know when it’s released. I expect it to be fairly soon.
I’m establishing a presence on Twitter and Instagram. If you follow me there, you’ll see what I’m writing right away.

I wrote the following poem about my friend Veronica who has always been very supportive of my writing. Enjoy!
“Upon Request”

Veronica will thumb her nose
When I present a page of prose
She prefers my poetry
It’s frankly all the same to me
And yet, I wonder if I wrote
About a man and boy afloat
Who hope so hard to get their wish
To catch a grand ginormous fish
If she read it, would she say,
“Denise, you’re just like Hemingway?”
Most likely not
I’ve not the juice,
I’ll settle then for, just like Seuss
